Report: U.S. Faces Bio Attack within 5 Years, WMD Threat Real
The terrorism threat — including WMD strikes on the U.S. homeland — is real over the next five years. The threat is driven by instability in the Middle East and Africa, persistent challenges to border security and increasing Internet savvy, says a new intelligence assessment obtained by The Associated Press. U.S. Military Preparing for Domestic Disturbances

U.S. Military Preparing for Domestic Disturbances

Freier continues: “Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order … An American government and defense establishment lulled into complacency by a long-secure domestic order would be forced to rapidly divest some or most external security commitments in order to address rapidly expanding human insecurity at home.” Read more

OFFENDING THE LITTLE ONES – THE BLIGHT OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING

OFFENDING THE LITTLE ONES – THE BLIGHT OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
While the majority of law-abiding citizens are unaware of it, slavery is still alive and kicking in the world. It does not matter whether you live in India or Europe or America, there’s a good chance that somebody is being forced into slavery or prostitution in a major city near you.
Three months ago Maribel Rodriguez Vasquez, a 28-year-old Guatemalan woman in Los Angeles, was the sixth person in her family to be arrested for her participation in the family business – transporting young women into America to force them into prostitution. Vasquez and her cohorts had lured a dozen women (at least) to America – including minors as young as 13 – and instead of helping them find the better lives they dreamed of, forced them to sell their bodies. The girls were beaten and threatened in order to force their submission.
The problem of human trafficking reaches across the country. In New York, a 61-year-old grandmother pleaded guilty earlier this year to bringing in women from Mexico for her prostitution business. Asian massage parlors near Kansas City, MO were fronts for prostitution until the ring was busted this summer. Young women were forced to provide sexual services from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. They lived in the massage parlors, where they were constantly monitored, and were very rarely allowed to leave. In all these cases, the women were coerced, often beaten and tortured, and their lives and families threatened in order to force their compliance.

Sex slavery is a widespread problem, and not only in corrupt nations where police turn blind eyes. The FBI opened 225 human trafficking investigations in the US in 2007, and in the single month of July in 2008, a nationwide sweep resulted in 640 arrests and the rescue of 47 children.
The girls and women, and even boys and young men, who are forced into this horrific form of slavery have a difficult time escaping. They may speak very little English and fear being deported. They may not be aware of their rights and have no idea people are willing to help them.

The problem is even worse in other countries. In many Asian countries, parents from poor villages are often tricked into sending their children away. They are told by the “compassionate” person who visits that their children will be given a better life. In reality, these professional traffickers sell the children as slaves, complete with 20-hour work days, beatings, and poor food. The children are not allowed to talk to their parents, and if they escape or if the parents track them down the police come to the aid of the slave owners.

Child prostitution is a tremendous problem across Southeast Asia. When the tsunami hit Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Indonesia at the end of 2004, one of the gravest concerns was the protection of children who had been left alone. The human traffickers were scooping them up for the forced labor and sex trades.

The shame of human trafficking lies not only with the traffickers themselves, but with those who use their services. The man who visits a prostitute at a truck stop sex ring in Texas is the one feeding the sex trade. The factory owner who not only uses child labor, but forces his slaves to work exhausting hours, is just as guilty as the man who tricks or kidnaps the children in the first place. And those Western businessmen who makes use of a Thai brothel where children work is just as guilty as the men who profit from the children’s “services.”

Please continue to do research on the horrific problem of human trafficking, and pray for those who are caught in its trap.

Barack Obama’s Undemocratic Plan to Tax Everything You Do and Send the Money to Millionaires in Kuwait

Barack Obama’s Undemocratic Plan to Tax Everything You Do and Send the Money to Millionaires in Kuwait

Despite the 5,800 miles between them, events yesterday in Poznan, Poland, and Sacramento, Calif., shed a frightening light on the direction President-elect Barack Obama’s administration wants to take our country on energy policy. First in Poznan, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) promised delegates at an international climate conference that “Congress and the president-elect are committed to movement on mandatory goals as rapidly as possible.” According to Obama’s transition website , the preferred enforcement mechanism for these mandatory goals would be a cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emissions, which any honest economist will tell you is really just an energy tax dressed up in drag. Meanwhile, in Sacramento, the unelected California Air Resources Board approved “the nation’s most sweeping plan to reduce global warming by curbing emissions.” Like Obama’s plan, California’s plan features “an elaborate cap-and-trade program” at its core.

What makes California’s cap-and-trade plan so scary is that voters never had, and never will have, an opportunity to debate and vote on its implementation. The plan is being implemented entirely through the administrative process. None of the members of California board have ever had to, or ever will, face the voters. They are appointed by the governor.

Could a similar thing happen on the federal level? Yes. Obama has already signaled he will pursue that route. Earlier this month he appointed two co-chairmen to his EPA transition team who are leading advocates of using authority from the Clean Air Act to implement a national cap-and-trade system through the EPA without congressional approval. In fact, the EPA has already begun the rule-making process. The plan would invasively regulate every sector of the American economy, ultimately cost 2.9 million manufacturing jobs and reduce aggregate gross domestic product by $6.9 trillion by 2029. The EPA does not take a position on whether the allowances of the cap-and-trade plan will be given away or auctioned off. But with liberals in charge, it is almost guaranteed cap and trade will be treated as government cash cow.

What will Washington do with all the revenue from this new massive energy tax? For that answer, we must travel back to Poznan where the delegates from the world’s developing nations continue to refuse to make any firm commitments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions unless developed countries, the United States chief among them, pony up the cash to ease the economic hardship all carbon emission reduction entails. Mexico made headlines with its promise to reduce emissions by 50% by 2020. But reading deeper we learn from the Washington Post (emphasis added):

Fernando Tudela, Mexico’s vice minister of environment and natural resources, emphasized the need for financial help from richer nations. At a news conference Thursday, he said that Mexico will set “aspirational goals” but that the extent to which they would be met “will depend on the kind of support we can find in the international regime.”

In other words: Mexico isn’t cutting anything until the United States cuts a check. And that is where the carbon tax funds come in. Energy and Environment Daily reports that assuming any U.S. cap-and-trade regime auctions off its credits, it “could generate billions of dollars in new revenue that could be shared with developing countries as incentives for making their own commitments.” And just who are these developing countries where hard-working Americans will be sending their money? Thanks to antiquated definitions still used by the United Nations, wealthy nations like Singapore, Kuwait, and Qatar are all not only exempt from the more stringent carbon caps that “rich” nations face, but are also eligible for any funds “poor” countries would receive from any international treaty on climate change.

As our economy struggles to recover, our leaders should be working to lower our energy costs and develop our own natural resources, not enacting complex regulatory schemes that will crush our economy and send our hard-earned money overseas.

I am not sure it can get any crazier than this. What happened to government with representation? Pray for the United States to get back to a government by the people and for the people of America!

Memo to Newsweek: Give the Real Bible Equal Time

Memo to Newsweek: Give the Real Bible Equal Time

December 12, 2008

Newsweek magazine effectively declared war on marriage this week, running a long essay on “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage” as their cover story. In the wake of the victory of California’s marriage amendment (Proposition 8) on Election Day, homosexual marriage advocates are realize that their opponents are not going to fade away or compromise their convictions. Not content any longer to make a “separation of church and state” argument for same-sex “marriage,” they are instead mounting a direct attack on Christian opposition to homosexual conduct and to same-sex “marriage” on biblical grounds.

There was little that was original about the essay. It strung together a lot of talking points that have wafted about the homosexual movement for years. What was astonishing was that the author (Newsweek’s religion editor Lisa Miller) not only tried to explain away the Bible’s condemnation of homosexual conduct, but actually claimed that “Scripture gives us no good reason why gays and lesbians should not be (civilly and religiously) married-and a number of excellent reasons why they should.”

The article included blatant factual errors, such as the claim that Jesus never “explicitly defines marriage as between one man and one woman” (see, e.g., Mark 10:6-8-“But from the beginning of creation, God MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.”), and the claim that “nowhere in the Bible do its authors refer to sex between women” (see Romans 1:26). It also had logical contradictions, arguing for the Bible’s support of “gay marriage” while simultaneously dismissing the Bible as supportive of slavery and anti-Semitism.

If homosexual activists want to simply ignore the Bible, they are free to do so. If they are going to blatantly distort its teachings, Newsweek should not help them do so.

We urge you to email Newsweek today and demand that the magazine print an accurate article presenting the Bible’s true teaching about homosexual conduct and same-sex “marriage”-one equal in length to the Miller piece (which was over 2,700 words) and also run as the cover story.

Thank you for taking action today and God bless you.

Email Newsweek and Tell Them to Give the Real Bible Equal Time

Sincerely,

Tony Perkins

President
