The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is finding himself in a bit of hot water after directing an expletive at a colleague on the House floor.

Rep. Ike Skelton (D-Mo.), the chairman of that committee, told fellow Missouri Rep. Todd Akin (R) to "stick it up your a**" during a debate during the defense authorization bill, the Kansas City Star reported.

The confrontation reportedly had to do with the hate crimes amendment included within the bill, a provision which many Republican lawmakers had protested.

Skelton later apologized for the heated exchange.

"In the heat of the moment, unfortunate things are said,” Skelton told the Star.
