A reader asked us to help draw attention to the jihad being waged in his home country of the Phillipines. We’ve covered the Philippines several times before including Gloria Arroyo’s on again off again battle and appeasement to Islamists there.

President Arroyo opened sharia courts to appease Muslims but also stated she would annihilate Abu Sayyaf. Now she has appointed a Muslim politician from the “Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao” to be her “peace” advisor.

Watch this video from France 24, and ask yourself why U.S. diplomats are meeting with Islamic terrorists in the Philippines.

Arroyo picks Muslim politician as peace adviser

MANILA, Philippines — President Macapagal-Arroyo has appointed a Muslim politician as her adviser on peace following the resignation of Avelino Razon Jr. who is planning to run for mayor of Manila.

Undersecretary Nabil Tan, a native of Sulu and a lawyer, assumed on Monday the post of officer in charge of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

Tan vowed to restart the stalled peace talks not only between the government and Moro secessionists but also between the government and communist rebels.

“All these efforts, of course, should be done in the context of people-centered peace process work, of sharing responsibilities, of hard work, and of synergy among the various offices and units,” Tan, a former vice governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said in a statement.

Misuari building new Army in Mindanao

After a rather pompous affair some months ago, former Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) chairman Nur Misuari is now slowly rebuilding his grassroots organization. Some say he’s gunning for the ARMM governorship, a losing proposition if you might say since he’ll never win against powerful, pro-administration candidates in Mindanao. His first public showing in Mindanao saw 10,000 MNLF fighters and supporters all milling around him for guidance.

Another possibility, this time, I think, bears a semblance of Truth, is the possibility of him building another armed and revolutionary Bangsamoro army. As of latest count, he has 12,000 armed adherents with about 250,000 civilian volunteers.

The question that everybody is asking—will this lead to a full-blown war in Mindanao should the peace talks between another organization, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fails? Or is Misuari’s army of Bangsamoro fighters a counterforce against more radicalized Islamic forces in Mindanao? Is Misuari’s army a project of the CIA and the US to provide a THIRD FORCE should MILF fighters choose not to honor the peace pact forged by MILF chair Al Hadj Murad with the government?

A third force in Mindanao is an excellent proposition instead of a fully Jemaah Islamiyah army in the troubled region.
