Country of Georgia: South Ossetia tries to disarm its citizens

With Russia guaranteeing its security, South Ossetia is asking residents to turn in their weapons voluntarily. The police have opened 50 criminal prosecutions for illegal weapons and plan to offer $300 to $400 for each Kalashnikov rifle, a top official said.

Idaho: Jerome County aims to support new shooting range
Jerome County commissioners took a step Monday toward the eventual development of a shooting range in eastern Jerome County. Before that could happen, federal Bureau of Reclamation land would have to shift to state management. The commission voted unanimously to send letters in support of the land transfer to the state and the development of the shooting range to Sen. Mike Crapo and Rep. Mike Simpson, both R Idaho.

Obama’s anti-gun OSHA nominee
The controversial OSHA nominee and left-leaning public health advocate also seems to have strong views on firearms issues. That’s by no means irrelevant to the agenda of an agency like OSHA, because once you start viewing private gun ownership as a public health menace, it begins to seem logical to use the powers of government to urge or even require employers to forbid workers from possessing guns on company premises.
