FNC Notes Double Standard on Radical Obama Advisor Van Jones

On Thursday’s Special Report with Bret Baier, FNC host Baier ran a report by correspondent James Rosen describing a “troubling pattern of behavior” by President Obama’s Green Jobs Czar, Van Jones. The report noted some of the controversial statements and connections of Jones, who has not only described himself in the past with such words as “Marxist” and “radical,” but has also been linked to 9/11 Truthers and radical groups such as one organization whose manifesto “equated those killed on 9/11 with, quote, ‘the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world.'” The report also showed a clip of Jones from last year accusing “white polluters” of “steering poison” into minority communities.

Rosen ran a soundbite of University of Virginia Politics Professor Larry Sabato — known for his willingness to criticize politicians of both parties — who noted that such a controversial figure in the Bush administration would have ignited a “national hurrah of magnificent proportions.” Sabato: “If a Bush official had made anything comparable to what Mr. Jones has said and done, no doubt there would have been a national hurrah of magnificent proportions.”

Earlier: “All Three Morning Shows Skip Any Reference to Radical Obama Czar and 9/11 Truther.”

The FNC correspondent concluded his report by relaying that White House spokesman Robert Gibbs had dismissed the matter contendnig that “President Obama feels no need to comment or to have Gibbs comment on remarks that pre-dated Jones’ White House service and for which Jones himself has apologized.”

Rosen added: “However, Bret, our exchange with Robert Gibbs occurred before this word of Jones’ involvement with the 9/11 Truthers had surfaced.”

Below is a complete transcript of the report from the Thursday, September 3, Special Report with Bret Baier on FNC:

BRET BAIER: The President’s Green Jobs Czar could be causing more problems for the administration than he is actually solving. Correspondent James Rosen reports on a troubling pattern of behavior by one of the President’s top advisors.

JAMES ROSEN: Less than a month before Van Jones was appointed the White House’s Special Advisor on Green Jobs, he was asked at a Berkeley, California, event why Republicans run Congress more effectively.

VAN JONES, WHITE HOUSE GREEN JOBS ADVISOR: Well, the answer to that they’re [BLEEP] -holes.

JONES: Barack Obama is not an [BLEEP] -hole, so-

ROSEN: Late Wednesday, Jones apologized calling his remarks offensive and not reflective of the views of the Obama administration. Soon, though, the Internet geyser was bursting forth with more — much more — from this Yale Law School graduate who has at various points described himself as a Marxist, a radical, an anarchist, and who speaks openly of using the environmental movement to address racial and other injustices.

JONES VIDEO CLIP DATED 2008: The white polluters and the white environmentalists are essentially steering poison into the people of color communities.

JONES AUDIO CLIP DATED APRIL 2008: From 1954 to 1958, you know, complete revolution was on the table for this country. And I think that this green movement has to pursue those same steps and stages.

ROSEN: He has advocated reparations for Native- and African-Americans, and had very harsh words for the likes of Shell and Exxon.

JONES: And you’re like, wait a minute, aren’t you an oil company? Aren’t you killing [BLEEP] in Nigeria? Hold on a second, wait.

ROSEN: And within hours after the Twin Towers collapsed, the groups Jones founded and led lashed out at U.S. police and intelligence agencies for using 9/11 as a, quote, “cash cow.” The manifesto for one of these groups equated those killed on 9/11 with, quote, “the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world.” Jones is also a signatory to the 911Truth.org Web site which demanded an investigation into, quote, “incriminating evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the 9/11 attacks to occur.”

PROF. LARRY SABATO, UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA: We read a lot about how the vetting process has intensified, but clearly there was a lapse concerning Mr. Jones. If a Bush official had made anything comparable to what Mr. Jones has said and done, no doubt there would have been a national hurrah of magnificent proportions.

ROSEN: White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told Fox News told Fox News President Obama feels no need to comment or to have Gibbs comment on remarks that pre-dated Jones’ White House service and for which Jones himself has apologized. However, Bret, our exchange with Robert Gibbs occurred before this word of Jones’ involvement with the 9/11 Truthers had surfaced.

BAIER: We’ll see if the national hurrah develops

ROSEN: Of magnificent proportions.

BAIER: James, thank you.

Media Ignores Van Jones Controversy

Did you know Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar”, Van Jones, is a self admitted communist? Did you know audio surfaced of an interview with him where he spoke of incrementalist revolution? These extreme views are not even denied by the Czar. Did you have any idea he signed a document asking for the investigation of the U.S. government for orchestrating the events of 911? Did you know after bloggers exposed him as a conspiracy theorist he lamely claimed he didn’t know what he was signing and did not hold the views of a government conspiracy? Did you know that after his denial more documents surfaced exposing his involvement in anti-war, and 911 conspiracy groups as early as 2002?

If you answered yes to any of these you can thank bloggers like Gateway Pundit and Naked Emporer News. They did the job the MSM should have done. Not only were they the ones that did the research and exposed this radical, but even after the truth was out there the majority of the media continue to ignore it.

If you were to rely on the New York Times, the Washington Post, NBC Nightly News, ABC World News, CBS Evening News or even all of the combined for all your news you would have absolutely no idea what we are talking about.

And if you were in the Obama White House monitoring the Jones situation, you would be hoping that the news organizations listed above continue to hold the line — otherwise, Jones, who is quite well thought of in Obama circles, would be history.

It comes as no surprise the media are ignoring this huge controversy. After all, it could hurt the President’s already tanking popularity.

Green Jobs Czar: Wants to ‘Focus’ on ‘Creat(ing) Jobs’; Told Newsweek He Can’t Define What Green Job Is

NewsBusters.org Media Research Center
Van Jones, Czar of the Undefinable

Avowed Communist and Barack Obama Administration “Green Jobs Czar” Van Jones late yesterday released via the White House press office a statement apologizing for offending anyone with any of a series of inflammatory and indeed ridiculous things he has said in the (very recent) past.

The latest bit of Jones inanity news was in fact not something he said, but rather something on to which he signed. That would be an October 26, 2004 “Truth Statement” that asserts amongst other things that President George W. Bush had a hand in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Making Jones a 9-11 “Truther” (sort of like a “Birther,” but with a lot less media coverage), i.e. a conspiracy-addled doofus. (He is addled by other conspiracy theories as well, but for now this will do.)

In said apology statement, Jones uttered the following:

In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration – some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize. As for the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.

My work at the Council on Environmental Quality is entirely focused on one goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources.

That last sentence is interesting. After all, he is the”Green Jobs Czar,” right? We are asked to forget that (amongst other things) he thinks the previous President and the government for which he now works had a hand in murdering nearly 3,000 of its citizens, and allow him get back to creating those “green jobs.”

But there is a problem. As we originally highlighted, Jones is unable to define what a “green job” is. In fact, no one is. From our July 29th effort:

President Obama devoted nearly $60 billion of his stimulus package to building a new green-based economy rich in renewable energy and strategies to cut carbon. But despite the price tag, not one green job yet exists. It comes down to a problem of etymology. No one can yet agree on what a green job actually is.

Good thing we allocated $60 billion to allegedly create a numbers of something no one can define. Newsweek would have done well to ask for said clarification in, say, January.

The working definition paints a broad stroke: a job that’s good for the economy while simultaneously healing the earth. But that leaves lots open to interpretation-natural gas is technically a cleaner fuel than crude oil, but it’s still unsustainable-making it difficult, if not impossible, to measure whether eco-based jobs are being created and whether, as the administration has claimed, they’re the saviors of a sagging economy.

Since no one can define a green job, it is impossible to know whether we’ve created any. There’s also probably no way of telling how many have been saved, either.

Again, why hadn’t Newsweek sought this clarification while the plan was being considered, rather than after it has become law?

In large part, the very idea behind a green job ensures there will never be a full definition, but the Bureau of Labor Statistics agreed in April to start measuring data on them. (Critics, in response, quickly suspected that the BLS, an agency supposed to measure objective data, could soon help carry water for an administration eager to show the stimulus is working.) Several environmental advocates polled by Newsweek defined green jobs the way Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart famously defined obscenity: I’ll know it when I see it.

By the by, the Leftist group The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for helping to write the stimulus bill, which steered $60 billion towards developing “green jobs.” Which coincidentally is their mission:

The Apollo Alliance is a coalition of labor, business, environmental, and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution that will put millions of Americans to work in a new generation of high-quality, green-collar jobs.

Again, they can’t define what “green jobs” are. Again, no one can.

On The Apollo Alliance Board is (or was; regardless, he was there) – Van Jones, who got the “Green Jobs Czar” gig overseeing the $60 billion.

Will Jones direct any of that copious coin back to his current/former pals at The Apollo Alliance to help not create any undefinable “green jobs?” ‘Twould be nice were Newsweek, or anyone in the media, to ask.

He apparently warranted some coverage then; he definitely warrants some (more) now.

More Crazy Talk From Obama’s Green Job’s Czar

Yesterday we highlighted reports from the Washington Times‘ Amanda Carpenter confirming that President Barack Obama’s hand picked Green Jobs Czar, Van Jones, signed a statement in 2004 accusing President George Bush of deliberately allowing 9/11 to happen as a pretext for war.

Jones then claimed yesterday that he “did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name.”

But now ABC News is reporting that Jones was also on the “organizing committee” for a 2002 march in San Francisco that asked Congress to investigate the following questions:

“What is the relationship between Bin Laden, his family and the Bush family and the Carlyle Group?

“Why were no fighter planes dispatched to intercept the four hijacked planes on September 11th, in violation of standard procedures?

“Who actually was in control of the ‘hijacked planes’? …

“Did the CIA have foreknowledge of the attack, who tried to profit with put options on American, United, Merrill Lynch stock just before the attack?…

“What are Bush’s and Cheney’s connections to the drug industry?

“Why is the evidence being destroyed when an investigation of the World Trade Center collapse is needed?”

Again, Green Jobs Czar is the perfect job for a 9/11 truther. Just as Popular Mechanics has debunked all of the crazy 9/11 truther claims, research both here in the U.S., and abroad, has repeatedly demonstrated that subsidizing high cost renewable energies destroys more jobs than it creates.

Crazy is as crazy does.
